About Onyx: Onyx is our wild child and truly lives up to her name, “Nothing Just Trouble.” Affectionately known as the “gremlin dog,” she is always keeping us on our toes and finding something new to get into. Onyx joined us from Winter Melody Siberians in Poland at 4 months of age, and I will never forget meeting her for the first time. As I opened her crate in the cargo area at the Edmonton airport, this spirited black and white puppy immediately launched out, screaming with excitement and giving kisses without hesitation. From that moment on, her fearless and outgoing personality was undeniable. Since arriving in Canada, Onyx has been exceptionally social and people-oriented. She thrives on interaction and attention, and she absolutely loves to let loose with endless zoomies across the yard. She enjoys playing with other dogs, though she is also one of our more dominant females. Beyond her wild and playful nature, Onyx is also incredibly affectionate. She is a true cuddle bug, loves to sleep close, and often gives us deeply expressive, loving looks that remind us of her softer side. Onyx has strong prey drive and is a professional mouse hunter. She is also a powerful and driven sled dog with excellent work ethic. Highly intelligent, she especially enjoys problem-solving and mental enrichment games. We adore our crazy girl and appreciate every part of her big, bold personality.
Achievements: Onyx entered the show ring for the first time and immediately made an impression, exceeding all expectations in her debut weekend. She earned 4 Winners Female, 4 Best of Winners, 2 Best Puppy in Breed, 2 Best of Opposite (over specials), a Best of Breed over multiple specials, and a Best Puppy in Group, finishing her first weekend with a total of 8 points. She also earned Best Puppy in Sweeps her very first time in the ring, winning a large and competitive entry of puppies across multiple breeds, including several already titled youngsters. Onyx continued her success in May 2018, where she earned Winners Female, Best of Winners, and Best of Breed from the classes to complete her Canadian Championship in fewer than two weekends. She is an exceptionally fun and engaging dog to show, consistently bringing enthusiasm and presence into the ring. Onyx has proven to be a versatile and capable sled dog, successfully running in all positions on the team and becoming a reliable and consistent choice for lead. In 2020, she earned her Novice Trick Dog title, followed by her 2-K9 Ruff Run title in 2021. Later in 2021, Onyx competed as a special and earned three Select Female wins, collecting 6 points toward her Grand Championship. She was also entered in the Brood Bitch class at the Chilliwack Specialty shows alongside her daughters Eb and Iv, where she was awarded Best Brood Bitch in Show at all three events. In November 2023, Onyx earned her Triple Threat title, further showcasing her versatility across multiple disciplines. Her most recent sport is sprinters where she enjoyed earning her Veteran Novice Sprinter title in just 3 runs! Onyx continues to be a bold, fun, and talented member of our family, and we are very proud of everything she has accomplished.
